The rapid development of traffic in Indonesia needs followed by the development of a road pavement materials able to cope. Research on Retona Blend 55 asphalt as a mixture of Asphalt Concrete is one of these development efforts. The purpose of this study was to determine the materials properties of asphalt, asphalt mixture properties and performance prediction of asphalt mixtures with Retona Blend 55 asphalt and Penetration 60/70 asphalt as comparison.
This research uses experimental methods conducted in the laboratory and computational method with BANDS and SPDM software. The primary data in the form of asphalt test, sieve analysis of aggregate and Marshall test data from Road Pavement Laboratory Faculty of Civil Engineering Sebelas Maret University in Surakarta. Secondary data in the form of specific gravity of aggregate data, daily traffic average, CBR, Pit Test Result and other data obtained orally from Sebelas Maret University, Public Work Department, and Bina Marga Official.
The asphalt test results show the penetration value of Retona Blend 55 asphalt (41,5 mm) lower than Pen 60/70 asphalt (64,5 mm). Marshall test results also show in the optimum bitumen content, stability and Marshall Quotient asphalt mix with Retona Blend 55 asphalt (1072,447 kg and 319,008 kg / mm) higher than the asphalt mix with Pen 60/70 asphalt (898,852 kg and 262,937 kg / mm). Overlay thickness results of the SPDM software to Retona Blend 55 asphalt (10,4 cm) and Penetration 60/70 asphalt (11,6 cm), and of Metode Analisa Komponen 2002 (10 cm) is the same for both types of asphalt. SPDM analysis shows a thinner thickness to Retona Blend 55 with the same road pavement and life design. Overlay thickness of the SPDM analysis greater than with Metode Analisa Komponen because counting of some values concerning material properties on SPDM analysis.
