PERJUANGAN TOKOH UTAMA DAN NILAI DIDIK DALAM NOVEL PEREMPUAN BERKALUNG SORBAN KARYA ABIDAH EL KHALIEQY SERTA PEMANFAATANNYA SEBAGAI MATERI AJAR DALAM PEMBELAJARAN APREASIASI SASTRA DI SMA

The objectives of this study are to describe: (1) the structure of the novel Perempuan Berkalung Sorban by Abidah El Khalieqy, (2) the struggle of the main character in making equal with a man in the novel Perempuan Berkalung Sorban by Abidah El Khalieqy, (3) the educational value in the novel Perempuan Berkalung Sorban by Abidah El Khalieqy, and (4) the using the novel Perempuan Berkalung Sorban as the learning material in teaching the appreciation of literature in Senior High School. This research belongs to descriptive qualitative research with structural approach. The strategy used in this research is content analysis. The data were obtained from the novel Perempuan Berkalung Sorban by Abidah El Khalieqy, the result of the interview with the writer, the teachers of Senior High School, the students of Senior High School, and the man of letters. To collect the data, purposive sampling was applied. In validating the data, the researcher employed triangulation theory. For analyzing the data, the researcher applied technique of interactive analysis. The conclusion of this research are (1) Novel Perempuan Berkalung Sorban consists of some mutual completing elements, namely theme, characterizations, setting, point of view, message, and plot. The theme of the novel is about the struggle of a woman in making equal with man. The main characters of the novel are Annisa Nuhaiyyah and Khudhori. The additional characters are Samsudin, Kiai Haji Hanan Malik, Ibu hajjah Mutmainah, Nina, etc. The setting is divided into three, namely (a) setting of place; (b) setting of time; and (c) setting of social. This novel used the first person point of view “aku”. This novel has message for people to thank God his mercy and work hard in pursuing their dreams.The plot of this novel is vacillating plot; (2) The struggle of the main characters in making equal with a man by keeping on the study and struggling for her rights as a wife in order not to get violence from her husband; (3) The educational value of the novel are (a) religious educational value; (b) social educational value; (c) moral educational value; (d) aesthetic educational value; and (4) The using the novel Perempuan Berkalung Sorban as the learning material in teaching the appreciation of literature in Senior High School can exacerbate the comprehesion and the interpretation of students about the struggle of woman in making equal with man and also give advantages for the students in: (a) helping the language skills, (b) increasing cultural knowledge, (c) increasing creativity and feeling and also supporting the formation of students’ character, and (d) giving motivation and spirit that human being have same position, both man and woman.
