The objectives of this report are (1) to describe the activities done during the internship in PT. Solusi Bahasa Internasional from February 6, 2019 up to March 8, 2019, particularly translating news article from English into Indonesian, (2) to describe problems that occurred during the translation process, and (3) to describe the attempts to solve them.
There were several activities done by interns during the internship program. The main activity was practicing to translate texts, particularly news article, and other kinds of text such as technical, narrative, tourism promotional video script, food recipe, and legal. Translexi frequently acquires technical texts because most projects in the translation market contain technical activities. The additional activities were attending daily briefing, film screening, and attending presentations of material related to translation and linguistics, and attending daily briefing. In translating those texts, the intern had done three basic steps in translation, i.e. analyzing the text, transferring the message, and restructuring. Problems appeared during translating were difficult terms, eyes bags, and tired hand. The solution done to solve the first problem was searching for the meaning of the difficult terms from dictionary and parallel text such as from Cambridge Dictionary and Google. The solutions done to overcome the second problem were taking enough rest and meeting the body?s
