× This final project is written based on job the training done at Novotel Solo which was done from 2 February 2009 until 2 May 2009. The objectives of this final project are to describe the functions (the main job descriptions) of GRO in supporting the hotel operational activities and maintaining Guest relationships and to highlight the roles of GRO in replacing the unavailability of PRO in Novotel Solo. By being Guest Relation Officer herself, the writer experienced directly how to handle the main duties of Guest Relation Officer such as preparing special arrangements of VIP guests, doing room inspections, performing several job descriptions in Executive Lounge, etc and several additional tasks to replace the in-house PR activities as communications technician, problem-solving facilitator, service coordinator, etc. Besides, the writer also dealt with many different characters of people and various complaints. In conclusion, Guest Relation Officer has two-factions in the same time, as GRO and as replacement of unavailability of PRO. Guest Relations Officer is not only expected to complete its own duties but also demanded to be able to handle PR’s activities and roles. In this case, it is necessary for GRO to have a skill in conducting an effective communication and building a harmonious relationship.
