Abstrak : ABSTRACT The objective of research is to find out (1) the difference of chemistry learning achieved by the students group using TGT (Teams Games Tournaments) type of cooperative learning method equipped with the module and the one equipped with the concept map. (2) there is an effect of learning motivation on learning achievement in the subject matter of element, compound and composite. (3) whether there is or not interaction between the use of TGT (Teams Games Tournaments) type of cooperative learning method and learning motivation with the student learning achievement in SMP in the subject matter of element, compound and composite. This research aims to use the experimental method. The population was all grade VII students of SMP Negeri 8 Surakarta in the school year of 2008/2009 consisting of 6 classes as many as 240 students. The sample was taken using clusters random sampling technique, as many as two classes (Classes VII C and VII E). Technique of analyzing data employed was a two-path variance analysis with different cell. Based on the result of research, it can be concluded: (1) that there is difference of chemistry learning achieved by the students group using TGT type of cooperative learning method equipped with the module and the one equipped with the concept map (Fobs > Ftable = 4.67184 > 4 at significance level of 5%). (2) the effect of learning motivation on learning achievement in the subject matter of element, compound and composite (Fobs > Ftable = 5.94643 > 4 at significance level of 5%). (3) there is no interaction between the use of TGT (Teams Games Tournaments) type of cooperative learning method and learning motivation with the student learning achievement in SMP in the subject matter of element, compound and composite (Fobs < Ftable = 0.17896 < 4 at significance level of 5%).
