This report discusses teaching and learning English at Tadika Puri Kindergarten Surakarta. Teaching a foreign language is better applied to the young learner; therefore, during the observation, the writer observed the process of teaching and learning in the children class from February to March 2005. The objectives of the observation are to know the weaknessess of learning English at Tadika Puri Kindergarten and to find out its solution.
Based o n the discussion, the writer finds out that the problems are related to the difficulties of the children in learning English. Therefore, teaching English to children should apply with some techniques that are easy to understand, such as through various games, songs and activities. Through these techniques, the teachers can teach the subject clearly and effectively. Meanwhile, the students not o nly get the knowledge of language, but also enjoy the lesson as if they are playing with their friends.
Descriptive method is used in this report to discuss every information from the field, especially those related to the objectives of the report. By using this method the writer can find out the weaknessess and its solution of learning English at Tadika Puri Kindergarten.
In conclusion, it is necessary to create a communicative and delightful class situation to make the teaching and learning English more effective and more interesting for the children.
