2005. As a company which has wide cooperation and plays in international level, translation become an essential part of PT. TELKOM Divre IV. Hence, it is interesting to know the process and functions of translation especially the translation of document Malcolm Baldrige Criteria that is used as measurement system at PT. TELKOM Divre IV Semarang.
The activity of translation in PT. TELKOM Divre IV involves all of its departments. Those nine departments take part in making the work report, which based o n their own duties. The responsibility report made by each department is prepared to be a complete report, which will be given to the members of shareholders. In short, the translation in PT. TELKOM Divre IV is defined as an activity, which is held to transfer the meaning of the document containing the work report of the departments in order to improve the company’s overall performance.
Meanwhile, to make this final project some ways are used to collect the data, namely: observation, interview and library study. The data, which have been collected, are arranged by using descriptive qualitative method.
In conclusion, the process of translation is started from collecting the work report from each department to the Transformation Directorate then all the report are analyzed, revised and unified into an annual report. Meanwhile there are at least eight functions of translating Malcolm Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence, such as: motivator, facilitator, evaluator, success indicator, means to get reward, means to know the company’s position, means to get public avowal, and means to reach the goal.
