Abstrak :

Complexes of cobalt(II) with isonicotinamide (intmd) and isonicotinic acid (asnt) have been synthesized in 1 : 1 and 1 : 2 mole ratio of metal to ligan in methanol. The formula of complexes which are predicted from analysis of % Ni in complexes by Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) are Co(intmd)2Cl2(H2O)n (n = 1 or 2) and Co(asnt)3Cl2(H2O)n (n = 1, 2, 3, or 4). Ratio of cation and anion of complexes are measured by conductivitymeter correspond to 1 : 1 electrolyte. The thermal analysis is determined by Differential Thermal Analyser (DTA) indicate that both of complexes contain some hydrate, thus possibility formula of complexes are [Co(intmd)2(H2O)]Cl2.nH2O (n = 0 or 1) and [Ni(asnt)3(H2O)3]Cl2.nH2O (n = 0, 1, or 2).

Data of infra red spectra show a shift of primary N-H group, O carbonyl group, and tertier N group absorption and indicate this functional group coordinated to the center ion. Magnetic Suscepbility measurement show μeff = 4,82 – 5,59 BM. UV-Vis spectra appear do to transition peak of 4T1g (F) à 4T1g (P) (ν3) o n λ = 529 nm (18903,5 cm-1) for [Co(intmd)2(H2O)]Cl2.nH2O (n = 0 or 1) and 4T1g(F)à4T1g(P) (ν3) o n λ = 522 nm (19157,1 cm-1) for [Co(asnt)3(H2O)3]Cl2.nH2O (n = 0, 1, or 2). The value 10 Dq (∆0) transition 4T1g(F)à4T1g(P) (ν3) for [Co(intmd)2(H2O)]Cl2.nH2O (n = 0 or 1) are 94,3 kJmol-1 and for [Co(asnt)3(H2O)3]Cl2.nH2O (n = 0, 1, or 2) are 95,56 kJmol-1. Analysis of X-Ray Diffractometer (XRD) of CoCl2.6H2O, Cobalt pyridine-1-oxide chloride hydrate and complexes Co(II)-isonicotinamide and Co-isonicotinic shows that there are different pattern of diffraction with data Joint Committee Powder o n Difraction Standards (JCPDS) and 2θ angle. Structure of both complexes are probably octahedral.
