The main data of this research are the images of and information about the ritual of Miss America Beauty Pageant 2007, the stage activities, the titleholder, the contestants, the judges and judging system, the clothes, and the tiara. The supporting data of this research were taken from articles, movies, reviews, interviews, and references about beauty pageant and Miss America Beauty Pageant 2007 related to the research questions of this research. In analyzing the research questions, the researcher used hegemony theory by Antonio Gramsci, Roland Barthes’ semiotic theory, popular culture formula theory of Jack Nachbar and Kevin Lause to answer what and how the American myths, beliefs, and values are reflected in Miss America Beauty Pageant 2007. In addition, the researcher used historical background and background information about gender to make the research easier to be analyzed. From the analysis, it was found that Miss America Beauty Pageant 2007 reflects three American myths, beliefs, and values. First, myth of American beauty is reflected in the physical appearance of the contestants of Miss America Beauty Pageant 2007 and the titleholder of Miss America 2007, the tiara, the evening gown and swimwear, the poise, the stage, and the judging system. The second is the American myth of material success, which consists of the value of hard work and material success as the result of hard work. The value of hard work is reflected in the contestants’ struggle before and during this pageant, and the cast crew’s works. The value of material success as the result of hard work is reflected in the tiara, the scholarship, the popularity, the luxurious life, and brighter career as the personal and social rewards of the contestants and the winners. Third, the value of endless consumerism is reflected in the commercialization of Miss America Beauty Pageant 2007 itself, the sponsors, the efforts of Miss America Organization to collect fund and profit, and the products used by the contestants and advertised by the Miss America Beauty Pageant 2007 to satisfy the American people’s consumptive desire.
