Abstrak : ABSTRACT This thesis discusses Intruder In The Dust, a novel written by William Faulkner. There are two objectives of the study that become the basis of this thesis writing. The two objectives are to identify kind of dishonor and injustice experienced by Black in Southern America highlighted by Faulkner in Intruder In The Dust and to described Faulkner’s concern over dishonor and injustice toward Negroes as reflected in Intruder In The Dust. To achieve the objectives, this research employs library research for collecting data. There are two kinds of data, primary and secondary ones. The primary data are obtained from the novel itself, Intruder In The Dust. Secondary data are obtained from biography of William Faulkner, criticism, history of American Negro, and theory of critical approach. This study uses biographical and socio-cultural historical approach. From the research, the researcher finds out the answer to the entire objectives in the thesis. First, there is no justice for Black people, white people can do anything toward the Black, and they treat Negroes not as human beings. Second, Faulkner concern over dishonor and injustice toward Negroes is reflected by saving Lucas Beauchamp from being lynched in the end of story. There are also some messages that Faulkner tries to convey. First, we all the same in this world, as human being, regardless the skin color we have. Second, it is important to build good relationship and to cooperate with other people; they will help us when we need them.
