× ABSTRACT This research studies and answers the problem concerning how Electoral Threshold (ET) and Parliamentary Threshold (PT) can be used as the attempt of simplifying the political party in Indonesia in Act No.10 of 2000 perspective on the General Election of Legislative Assembly’s, Local Representative Assembly’s, and Local Legislative Assembly’s Members. In addition the study also aims to find out the correlation between Electoral Threshold (ET) and Parliamentary Threshold (PT) with the probability of district system application in the attempt of simplifying the political party in Indonesia. This study belonged to a normative research type that is descriptive in nature. The type of data employed was secondary data including primary, secondary, and tertiary law materials. Technique of collecting data employed was documentary study with content analysis technique. The result of research shows that the attempt of simplifying multi-parties system through Electoral Threshold (ET) is conducted by applying the requirement threshold of vote gain for the political parties participating in the general election in order to follow the next general election. It means that whatever the number of chairs they get in the parliament, it should meet the Electoral Threshold in order to follow the next general election. The provision of Parliamentary threshold was conducted by applying the requirement threshold of political parties’ vote gain in order to enter the parliament. Thus, after the numbers of individual political parties’ vote are found out entirely, it is then divided by the number of vote nationally. Considering the analysis on the correlation between Electoral Threshold (ET) and Parliamentary Threshold (PT) with the probability of district system application in the attempt of simplifying the political party through the indicators of threshold, the first past the post / The winner take all and Stembus Accord, it can be concluded that both Threshold (ET) and Parliamentary Threshold (PT) with the probability of district system application in the attempt of simplifying the political party share the same final end that is attempt of simplifying the political party through general election. And of course, the combination of Threshold (ET) and Parliamentary Threshold (PT) with the probability of district system application will have a larger opportunity to simplify the political parties in Indonesia.
