Abstrak : ABSTRAK 2008. This final project report is written based on the job training that had been done by the writer for a month in Saint Paul Elementary School Bojonegoro. This final project report describes the application of using pictures in teaching vocabularies to the third grade students in the school. It also discusses the effectiveness of using pictures as the media in teaching vocabularies to the third grade students. The data of this final project report was obtained from the writer’s observation and experience when teaching the third grade students in Saint Paul Elementary school Bojonegoro. The writer taught the third grade students systematically based on the lesson plan arranged previously. There were four steps in the lesson plan that should be applied in teaching English in the class. They were: Motivating Strategy, Presentation Strategy, Skill Practice and Evaluation. Motivating Strategy was the first step used to attract students’ attention in learning new materials. In the presentation strategy, the writer explained the materials using pictures as the media helping the writer in delivering the lesson more clearly. Skill practice was done to involve the students in learning the lesson by playing fun games. Evaluation was the last step used to evaluate the students learning and the writer’s way of teaching. The writer found out that the use of pictures in teaching vocabularies to the third grade students is quite effective for several reasons. They were: pictures could attract students’ attention in learning new materials, pictures help the writer explain the vocabularies more clearly, and the pictures make the teaching and learning activities more fun and enjoyable because the games could be created from them. To support the success of the English teaching and learning process, it is suggested to Saint Paul Elementary School Bojonegoro to add the teaching media for instance: colored pictures, flashcards, visual aids, etc. Considering that the use of pictures was quite effective, it is also suggested to the English teachers of elementary school to use pictures in delivering the materials more clearly. It is hoped that English Diploma students to arrange a job plan before doing the job training in order to make the job training run smoothly.
