This study explores the role of scrapbook as a post-reading activity in Extensive Reading (ER) and its contribution to the development of critical thinking skills among Indonesian EFL students. Employing a qualitative narrative inquiry design, the study involved three undergraduate students from an English Education Department at a public university in Surakarta, Indonesia, who had previously completed the Reading for General Purposes (RFGP) course. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analysis of students' scrapbook artifacts, and were analyzed using theory-driven thematic analysis based on Facione's (1990) critical thinking framework. The findings reveal that students perceived scrapbook as a meaningful and engaging activity that integrated reading, reflection, selection, and creative expression. Although participants encountered challenges related to time management, workload, and text complexity, these challenges were perceived as encouraging deeper engagement with reading and reflective thinking. The results further indicate that sustained engagement with scrapbook activities was perceived by participants as supporting the development of five critical thinking dimensions, namely analysis, interpretation, inference, evaluation, and self-regulation. Participants reported increasingly systematic approaches to selecting and interpreting textual information, drawing reasoned conclusions, evaluating ideas, monitoring their own thinking processes, and transferring reflective habits to new academic and personal contexts. However, the explanation dimension was not consistently evident, suggesting that scrapbook may support the internal development of critical thinking more effectively than its formal articulation. Overall, the findings suggest that scrapbook may serve as a valuable reflective post-reading activity that supports critical thinking development within Indonesian EFL extensive reading contexts.
