Shallot (Allium cepa var. aggregatum) is an important horticultural commodity in Indonesia, with
demand continuing to increase. However, shallot productivity remains
suboptimal. Shallot productivity can be improved through the use of
seed-derived planting material, known as True
Shallot Seed (TSS), proper fertilizer management, and appropriate
plant spacing. This study aimed to determine the effect of different ratios of
bokashi and NPK fertilizer doses at various plant spacings on the growth and
yield of true shallot seed. The experiment was conducted using a factorial
Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of two factors. The first factor
was the ratio of bokashi and NPK fertilizer doses: 100% bokashi, 75% bokashi +
25% NPK, 50% bokashi + 50% NPK, 25% bokashi + 75% NPK, and 100% NPK. The second
factor was plant spacing: 10 × 15 cm and 10 × 10 cm. The results showed that
the application of different bokashi and NPK fertilizer ratios at the tested
plant spacings produced similar responses in the growth and yield of shallot.
The 75% bokashi + 25% NPK treatment produced better fresh bulb weight per
clump, dry bulb weight per clump, dry bulb weight per plot, dry bulb yield per
hectare, and bulb diameter compared with the other fertilizer ratios. The 10 ×
10 cm plant spacing produced higher dry bulb weight per plot and dry bulb yield
per hectare than the 10 × 15 cm plant spacing. The application of 75% bokashi +
25% NPK reduced NPK fertilizer use by 75% without reducing the growth and yield
of true shallot seed.
