This study explores the implementation of communicative language teaching in a vocational high school. It aims to achieve three main objectives. The first objective is examines how the communicative language teaching approach is applied in vocational high school. The second objective is examines how teacher and students perform their roles in communicative language teaching classroom. The third is examines the main challenges faced by teachers during the implementation of communicative language teaching. This research uses a qualitative study with a single case study design. Data were collected through classroom observation and semi-interviews, then analyzed using thematic analysis. This finding revealed that CLT was implemented through various communicative activities, including group discussions, presentations and role-play. The teacher primarily acted as a facilitator by providing guidance, feedback, and learning support, while students actively participated in collaborative activities. This study also identified several challenges in implementing CLT, including student limited vocabulary, varying level of English proficiency, and lack of confidence. This research concludes that the success of CLT implementation in vocational school depends on the collaborative role between teachers and students in creating an interactive and communicative classroom environment. Teachers need to develop strategies that not only encourage active participation but also accommodate the differences in students’ confidence levels in communicating in English.
