This final project report describes the Student Internship Program (Kuliah Magang Mahasiswa/KMM) conducted at PT Anak Hebat Indonesia (AHI), a publishing company specializing in fiction and nonfiction books. This internship program was conducted to apply the translation knowledge gained during academic studies in a professional environment, provide students with professional experience, as well as develop and increase their skills and competencies, particularly in the fields of translation and editing. The main task during the internship was to translate the fiction novel The Life and Adventures of Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe from English into Indonesian under the guidance of a conceptor. The translation process followed the three stages outlined by Nida and Taber, namely analysis, transferring, and restructuring, to ensure that the translated text remains accurate, natural, and easy for Indonesian readers to understand. In addition to translating the novel, other activities included practicing editing translated texts, taking tests related to the Indonesian language, and preparing supporting materials for the translated novel, such as a synopsis, author profile, a translator's preface, and translator’s profile. During the translation process, several challenges were encountered, particularly in translating Christian religious expressions and psychological expressions that required contextual understanding rather than a literal translation. These challenges were addressed through consultation with the conceptor, the use of dictionaries and other credible references, and continuous revision throughout the translation process. Overall, this internship provided valuable experience in improving translation and editing skills, offered practical experience in translating a novel, and strengthened the ability to produce translations that are accurate, easy to read, and suitable for the target readers. This internship also helped connect the knowledge gained in the classroom with its practical implementation in a professional environment.
