This final internship report discusses the translation process of fishery terms found in training presentation materials from Japan government officials from English into Indonesian, which was completed during an internship at PT STAR Software Indonesia from January to May 2026. The main activity during the internship was translating various client materials from several fields, including gaming, manufacturing, fisheries training materials, and power tools. Besides translation, additional activities included double checks, language sign-off, final quality assurance, website testing, and game list verification. This report specifically focuses on the translation fishery method terms and fishing gear terms extracted from the fisheries training materials. The translation process was caried out using Nida and Taber’s (1969) translation model, which consists of three stages, analyzing, transferring, and restructuring. Several challenges were encountered during the translation process, particularly in understanding fisheries terminology and identifying appropriate Indonesian equivalents. These challenges were addressed through terminology research, discussions with project managers, and continuous revision during the translation process. The report shows applying Nida and Taber’s translation model helped produce translations that were accurate, acceptable, and readable for Indonesian government officials and other Indonesian users of the fisheries training materials while preserving the intended meaning of the source text. Overall, the internship provided valuable professional experience and demonstrated the translators in the localization industry are responsible not only for translation but also for various quality assurance and post-translation processes. It also strengthened the practical skills and professional competence required a future career in translation and localization.
