This research aims to examine how the Little Fish film adaptation transforms the narrative elements of the short story and how cinematic techniques contribute to the adaptation process. The research employs a qualitative method with textual analysis by comparing the short story and the film in terms of plot, character, setting, point of view, cinematography, mise-en-scène, and sound. The findings show that the adaptation added some addition, reduction, and changes to suit the characteristics of the cinematic medium. Significant changes include the transformation of Jude’s occupation, the addition of Ben and Sam subplot, and the use of a non-linear timeline. The film also shifts from first-person narration to visual and audiovisual storytelling through voice-over, cinematography, mise-en-scène, and sound. As a result the film presents memory and emotional experience in a more visual way rather than in the short story.
