Syahril Fatah Ratnoko Saputro, 2026. Translating A Museum Catalog Collection Titled "Kolaborasi Peneliti Dan Penduduk Lokal Dalam Penelitian" From Indonesian Into English At Balai Pelestarian Situs Manusia Purba Sangiran. English Diploma Program, Vocational School, Universitas Sebelas Maret. This internship report was written based on the writer’s experience during the internship at Museum Sangiran for two months, from January 13 to March 6, 2026. The report aims to describe all activities carried out by the writer, as well as the challenges encountered during the internship. The writer’s main activity was translating a museum collection catalogue titled “Kolaborasi Peneliti dan Penduduk Lokal dalam Penelitian” from Indonesian to English. Throughout the translation process, the writer applied the translation process proposed by Nida and Taber (1969), which consists of three stages: analysis, transfer, and restructuring. During this process, the writer encountered difficulties in finding appropriate English equivalents for specialized archaeological terms, geological terms, and also the general terms. To overcome these challenges, the writer utilized machine translation tools, online dictionaries such as the Cambridge Dictionary and Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia (KBBI), as well as parallel texts from websites and online articles. The writer also consulted with the internship supervisor on several occasions to obtain professional insights and expert opinions. As additional activities, the writer created English subtitles for a short film entitled Jejak Koleksi Museum and translated a guide script for a school visitation program from Yogyakarta. All of the activities the writer conducted and the knowledge he acquired became invaluable experiences that further developed his professional competencies and ultimately increased his confidence in pursuing a future career. The writer deeply hopes all of these experiences could help him in the real workplace after he graduates.
