Writing a Bilingual Promotional Video Script for Makutoromo Tourism Center at the Tourism, Youth, and Sports Office of Karanganyar Regency

This final report describes the
internship activities conducted at the Tourism, Youth, and Sports Office of
Karanganyar Regency from February 18 to April 18, 2026. This final report
describes the internship activities conducted at the Tourism, Youth, and Sports
Office of Karanganyar Regency from February 18 to April 18, 2026. The primary
objective was to write a bilingual promotional video script for Makutoromo Tourism
Center to help international tourists access English information, as existing
materials were limited to Indonesian. The writing procedure began with on-site
observation to collect data on local culinary products, facilities, and payment
systems. The Indonesian text was drafted using the AIDA (Attention, Interest,
Desire, Action) framework and subsequently translated into English by Nida and
Taber’s (1982) three-stage translation process. The AIDA framework structured
the content systematically, starting with an informative title, followed by
attention-grabbing information, and ending with a clear call to action. During
the translation process, the main challenge involved translating
culture-specific terms while maintaining their meaning and cultural value. This
challenge was addressed by applying appropriate translation strategies to
ensure that the translated text remained accurate, natural, and understandable
for international audiences. Beyond script writing, additional activities
included data entry, taking meeting minutes, and acting as talent for another
tourism promotional video. By participating in this internship program, I
gained valuable knowledge and skills in bilingual writing and translation, as
well as practical experience in contributing directly to the development of
promotional media for Karanganyar tourism. Therefore, this internship program
helped prepare me for entering the professional industry in the future.
