This
report is based on my internship experience at foxandbunny in Sleman, Special
Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia, from January 19th to March 13th,
2026. It provides information about the background, the institution profile,
the main activities of the internship, and a conclusion along with recommendations
for all parties involved in the internship. My main tasks were translating the
title and summary and editing the main content translation of an interactive
children’s storybook, Serunya Taman Bermain, from Indonesian into
English. During the translation process of the title and the summary of Serunya
Taman Bermain, I applied Nida and Taber’s (1982) translation process, which
includes analysis, transfer, and restructuring. When translating, I faced three
challenges, such as diction, sentence structure, and pedagogy term. Moving to
the editing process of the main content translation of Serunya Taman Bermain,
I encountered four challenges, including diction, language use, a preposition, and
the text’s function. The Nida and Taber’s (1982) translation stages were used
to ensure an equivalent message of the source text in the target text. I made
sure to transfer the source text and restructure the target text based on
accuracy, readability, and acceptability aspects. Hence, the final translation
text still conveys the message that the source text intended. Several other
translation projects were also assigned to me, including translating board
books, parents’ guide, mom’s journal, and flashcards. Aside from dealing with
translation and its editing, I did several market and topic research projects
to provide strong scientific fundamentals before foxandbunny developed new
products. I also participated in making an illustration draft for foxandbunny’s
upcoming storybooks. Overall, this eight-week internship at foxandbunny
upgraded both my hard and soft skills. For example, my understanding of
children’s storybooks’ language style is improved, as well as my professional
level in making emails for work colleagues.
