This study aimed to determine the relationship between sign language sentence structure mastery and the effectiveness of interpersonal communication among Deaf students at Universitas Sebelas Maret. The subjects of this study were active students with hearing impairments (Deaf) at Universitas Sebelas Maret. This study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational research design to examine the relationship between mastery of Indonesian Sign Language (BISINDO) sentence structure as the independent variable (Variable X) and interpersonal communication effectiveness as the dependent variable (Variable Y) among Deaf students at Universitas Sebelas Maret, Surakarta. Data were collected using two research instruments: a performance test to measure Variable X (mastery of sign language sentence structure) and a rating scale to measure Variable Y (interpersonal communication effectiveness). (interpersonal communication effectiveness). The data analysis employed the Content Validity Index (CVI) to assess content validity, and the results indicated that all instrument items were valid. The reliability of Variable X was analyzed using the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC), yielding a coefficient of 0.924, indicating excellent reliability. Meanwhile, the reliability of Variable Y was assessed using Cronbach's Alpha with the assistance of SPSS, resulting in a coefficient of 0.887, indicating that the instrument was reliable. The findings showed a significance value of 0.168 (p > 0.05).
