Syahla Refizka Naila, 2026. Creating Bilingual Promotional Brochures for Wayang Orang Sriwedari Surakarta. English Diploma Program, Vocational School, Universitas Sebelas Maret. This report describes the two-month internship completed at the Department of Culture and Tourism of Surakarta, from January 12 to March 6, 2026. The purpose of this internship report is to apply translation, copywriting, and promotional media creation in a professional setting. The main activities during this internship were the creation of two bilingual (Indonesian-English) brochures, a Wayang Orang Sriwedari profile brochure and a Boma Reca storyline brochure, which is one of the stories performed at the Wayang Orang Sriwedari. These were created as promotional materials for Wayang Orang Sriwedari to increase its exposure to both domestic and international tourists. Both brochures went through the same three-step process: drafting the content, translating the content, and designing the layout. Content development involved gathering information from reliable sources, drafting the text in Indonesian, and translating it into English using Nida and Taber’s (1982:12) three-step translation process, consisting of analysis, transferring, and restructuring, to produce an accurate, natural, and appropriate translation for the target audience. The visual design of both brochures was created using Canva in a tri-fold format with six panels and features a traditional Javanese theme. During this process, several linguistic and non-linguistic challenges were encountered, particularly in translating cultural terms related to wayang and adapting the content to fit the brochure’s limited layout space. As an additional activity, the author also translated part of the book "Tata Cara Adat Pernikahan Keraton". This internship program provided practical experience in translation, content writing, and promotional media design, while strengthening professional and interpersonal skills relevant to the language and creative industries.
