Muhammad Daffa Arkananta Nugroho, 2026. Machine Translation Post-Editing on Video Game Localization at PT PeMad International Transearch. English Diploma Program, Vocational School, Universitas Sebelas Maret. This final report was written based on my professional internship experience at PT PeMad International Transearch. The primary goal of this undergraduate final project was to produce a high-quality video game localization that sounds natural, immersive, and contextually appropriate from the source text to the target text. To achieve this goal, I actively applied the Machine Translation Post-Editing (MTPE) framework, specifically following the Full Post-Editing standard. This comprehensive post-editing process carefully combines the macro-level translation model proposed by Nida and Taber (1982) with the micro-level translation techniques suggested by Molina and Albir (2002). This integrated approach consists of three main stages: analysis, transfer, and restructuring. Through these sequential stages, technical, stylistic, and contextual errors generated by the machine translation system are systematically resolved. The research results clearly show that the application of full post-editing successfully transformed flat and literal machine translations into highly expressive, dynamic, and natural Indonesian translations that are suitable for gamers. During the post-editing process, the choice of highly appropriate translation techniques, such as modulation, transposition, reduction, and established equivalents, is crucial for maintaining character immersion and adapting to the structural constraints of the user interface. Furthermore, the empirical findings indicate that human analytical skills remain completely indispensable in successfully bridging the gap between automated technology and complex, dynamic cultural nuances. In conclusion, the integration of macro and micro translation frameworks effectively ensures that the finalized text not only achieves very high linguistic accuracy but also preserves the original gameplay experience, thereby successfully fulfilling the core requirements of modern digital video game localization production workflows.
