This final project discusses my internship at Metta Media, specifically at Metta Solo FM division, which focused on creating creative bilingual insert scripts in Indonesian and English. The purpose of the internship was to apply my creative writing and translation skills in a professional work environment while gaining an understanding of the radio content production process. During the internship, I was tasked with gathering information from reliable sources, identifying interesting and relevant facts, drafting creative insert scripts in Indonesian, and translating them into English. The topics of the inserts I wrote included Ramadan traditions, interesting facts about R.A. Kartini, education in Indonesia, and insights into everyday life. In the writing process, I adapted my writing style to be communicative, casual, and in line with the characteristics of Metta Solo FM’s listeners. Next, during the translation phase, I used the translation theory proposed by Nida and Taber (1982) which includes analysis, transfer, and restructuring to produce a translation that is accurate and natural while preserving the meaning and cultural elements of the source language. During this process, I faced various challenges, such as translating cultural terms, slang, and expressions that have no direct equivalents in English. I overcame these challenges by conducting research using various reliable references, consulting with my field supervisor, and revising my work based on feedback. Through this internship, I gained experience in writing radio scripts, translation, and information research, as well as developing communication and problem-solving skills that will serve as valuable preparation for entering the professional workplace.
