Marginalized children constitute a vulnerable group commonly exposed to social, economic, and psychological difficulties, and therefore require an environment that is safe and supportive of their growth and development. Shelter homes function as temporary residences as well as facilities for guidance and rehabilitation; however, the interior quality of most existing shelters remains limited to the fulfillment of basic needs, with insufficient attention given to environmental conditions that support psychological recovery. This final project therefore aims to design the interior of a Shelter Home for Marginalized Children in Bandung City by applying the Healing Environment concept, in order to create a space that is safe and comfortable while supporting the physical, psychological, and social well-being of its users. The design process employed the ADDIE development model, comprising the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The analysis stage was conducted through literature review, observation, interviews, and an assessment of users, activities, spatial requirements, and the site. The analysis revealed that marginalized children require an environment that provides a sense of safety, comfort, and support for the recovery process through proximity to nature, extending beyond the fulfillment of basic functional needs. These findings served as the basis for implementing the Healing Environment concept through the provision of a healing garden, optimization of natural lighting and ventilation, the use of natural and eco-friendly materials, and the application of child-friendly, inclusive, and accessible design principles—resulting in an interior design for the shelter home that is more humane and better able to support the children's guidance and rehabilitation process.
