The study was aimed to analyze the functions of translanguaging practiced by the lecturer and his students in the EFL classroom. The subjects of the study were the lecturer and his students from the CCU class in one of Islamic University in Central Java. The research used a qualitative method as research design. The observation and interview were used to collect the data. The data was validated by using various techniques such as: triangulation, prolonged engagement, and persistence observation. The findings show that both lecturer and students employ various functions of translanguaging during the lessons. The lecturer uses translanguaging for two main functions, those are interpretive (to give example, to quote, to give clarification, to give reiteration, to give exlapantion) and managerial (to check the students’ comprehension, to give transition, to give free translanguaging, to give activity instruction). The students use translanguaging for one main function that is interactive (to ask question and to answer question).
