This internship program lasted two months, from February 7, 2023, to March 31, 2023, at Balai Bahasa Provinsi Jawa Tengah. The program aims to hone and apply the translation skill I got from campus in a variety of texts, for example, the narrative text, to gain new skills and knowledge in the real world of work, to know the differences of work culture in private and governmental sectors, to adapt the real world of work in the governmental sectors, and to enhance the relationship with other parties in Balai Bahasa Provinsi Jawa Tengah. During the translation activities, I applied Nida and Taber’s (1982) theory of the translation process. The step is analyzing, transferring, and restructuring. At BBPJT, I did several activities, such as translating the short story for kids: The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery William Bianco, as my final report's main activity. When translating that text, I found challenging terminologies: proper name and connotative words. I could not find the correct equivalent of those terminologies in the target language. I solve the problem by 1) reading repeatedly and identifying the context of the sentences, 2) searching the definition and the meaning in online and offline dictionaries, 3) finding the definition, the picture, and the parallel text on Google, and 4) asking the internship mentor.
