Aina Fatikha Rahma, 2023. Translating a Children’s Fiction Novel: An Awfully Beastly Business: Sea Monster and Other Delicacies at the Library and Archive Office of Surakarta, English Diploma Program, Vocational School, Univesitas Sebelas Maret.
This final report was written from the result of Student Internship (KMM) activities at the Library and Archive Office of Surakarta that occurred for 8 weeks, starting from 6th February 2023 until 31st March 2023. The purpose of this final report is to explain the activities during the internship, the difficulties that were encountered during the internship, and the efforts to solve them. The main activity of my Student Internship Program (KMM) is translating a children’s fiction novel An Awfully Beastly Business: Sea Monster and Other Delicacies from English to Indonesian which was published in 2008. During translating that novel, I faced some problems, such as difficulties in finding the meaning of a word or sentence. I put many efforts to solve the problems in translating the novel by doing deep research to be able to produce a high quality translation. Besides of doing the translation process, I also did several additional activities such as taking a role as front desk officer, shelving, joining perpustakaan kelling, downloading e-journals, and creating the posters.
