Following the globally networked environment, university students are increasingly likely to participate in an exchange or study abroad program at a comparable institution in another nation. However, previous research about studying abroad drew scepticism due to the western context informing the majority of research and the need for more research focusing on the experience of Indonesian students who have participated in short-term study abroad programs. The objectives are to find out how studying abroad enhances the participants' intercultural awareness. In this study's qualitative technique, a narrative inquiry procedure was used to communicate findings through stories. The writer used the Cultural Responsiveness framework by Giovannangeli & Oguro (2016) to analyze how studying abroad enhanced the participants' intercultural awareness. The findings showed that the participants experienced the three aspects of Giovannangeli & Oguro' 's (2016) framework. 1) Participants became aware of cultural differences in the host country. 2) Participants could discuss and respect the differences through social engagement. 3) Participants could adapt and apply new values after finishing studying abroad. This study suggests that studying abroad can affect students'' intercultural awareness because it can provide students with the experience in a new foreign society as well as open up new insights that are beneficial for future careers
