Matoa as a local Papuan fruit tree is a potential resource that can be used as raw material for biodiesel. The composition of growing media and chitosan can increase matoa growth. This study aims to obtain the composition of the growing media and the concentration of chitosan that supports matoa growth. The method used is a Randomized Complete Design with two factors. The first factor was composition of planting media, namely only soil, soil + goat manure with a ratio of 1:1 and 2:1, soil + cow manure with a ratio of 1:1 and 2:1, soil + bat manure with a ratio of 1:1 and 2:1. The second factor was the application concentration of chitosan, namely 0 ppm, 1 ppm, 2 ppm, and 3 ppm. Data analysis was carried out using analysis of variance (ANOVA) at 5% level of significance and if proven significant then it was continued with regression. The results showed that at 12 weeks after planting, interaction between the soil and bat fertilizer planting media composition (2:1) and 3 ppm chitosan concentration can increase plant height, stem diameter, leaf area, and matoa photosynthetic rate.
