Expressive Speech Acts involve expressions of the speaker's emotions (Searle, 1997). Expressive is a kind of speech act that expresses the speaker's feelings. They might be in the shape of pleasure, aches, likes, dislikes, joy, or sorrow and they indicate a psychological state. They might result from what the speaker or listener does, but they might also be a result of what the speaker has gone through, this means that every sort of speech act has one that is expressive and used to express the speaker's feelings (Yulee, 1996). Furthermore, this thesis aims to explore the expressive speech acts that found in Toy Story 3 movie. Then, this study was carried out to determine the variations in the distribution and utilization of expressive speech acts. This study uses a qualitative descriptive design that divides the analysis into four stages: domain, taxonomy, componential, and cultural theme analysis, employing a combination of pragmatics and sociolinguistics approaches. Each stage uses different expressive speech acts, including orientation, complication, evaluation, and resolution. There are 7 types of expressive speech acts found in 34 data, they are greeting, sympathy, thanking, apology, compliment, leave-taking, and mocking. These speech acts are categorized as follows: greeting (8 data), sympathy (4 data), thanking (6 data), apology (1 data), mocking (8 data), leave-taking (2 data), and complimenting (5 data). Furthermore, movie staging (orientation, complication, resolution, and evaluation) has a significant influence on the number of expressive speech act types produced by protagonists and antagonists.
