The current study examines the portrayal of neoliberal ideology in nationallyadopted Business English (BE) textbooks used in Indonesian universities. Framed in a critical and interpretive approach to discourse analysis, the present study elucidates explicitly the visibility of neoliberal values manifested through both verbal and visual texts in three Indonesian BE textbooks. This study argues that language textbooks are never ideologically neutral because English as a foreign language (EFL) textbook writers may like to canalize particular ideological values, such as neoliberalism. The present critical discourse study endeavours to better understand how language textbooks can be a rich resource for teaching values.
