This study analyzes the impact of the Environmental Quality Index on economic growth in Indonesia by applying the Geographically Weighted Panel Regression (GWPR) model to understand the spatial variability of the relationship between variables across different provinces in Indonesia. The results show that all independent variables have a significant effect on the economic growth of provinces in Indonesia, indicating that a cleaner environment contributes to economic improvement. In addition, investment and HDI are important factors that are the main drivers of economic growth. Total population as a control variable also has a significant effect on economic growth. The GWPR spatial analysis in this study produces maps that illustrate the distribution of environmental quality effects and identifies areas where environmental quality is correlated with economic growth in various provinces in Indonesia. These findings provide important insights for policymakers to design more effective and sustainable development strategies in Indonesia.
