The analysis of gender representation in the junior high school English textbook "English for Nusantara" for seventh grade is the focus of this study. It investigates how characters are portrayed in terms of their social and occupational responsibilities, pronoun usage, visual representation, order of mention, and familial roles for males and females through a thorough analysis of textual and visual resources. The research method that is used is qualitative content analysis. According to the findings, there is an apparent difference in how gender roles are portrayed, with men being held in leadership roles and involved in physically demanding activities and women mostly assigned to passive roles. However, there are signs of progress, such as when men and women work together on household chores and take on leadership roles. The study emphasizes the significance of analyzing and restructuring traditional gender norms. It implies that representations of gender roles and skills must be diverse and balanced to reflect changing societal views. A more progressive and fair perspective of societal gender movements can be promoted by recognizing and correcting biases in educational materials.
