THE CHROMIUM ACCUMULATION OF SERANG RIVER WATER QUALITY, SHELL AND GILLS MICROANATOMY STRUCTURE OF Anodonta woodiana Lea Cynthia Permata Sari, Sunarto, Edwi Mahajoeno Department of Biology , Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta ABSTRACT Chromium metal is one of the toxic heavy metal for any organism. Cr can penetrate into sel very fast. Chromium would be disturb working of enzim, its make metabolism and functional system of the body disturbed. Anodonta woodiana Lea is one of aquatic animal that very responsible to heavy metal. It is a filter feeder animal lived on bottom of water. This animal can be use to indicator of water quality. The aim this research is to find chromium pollution values at Serang River water in physic (temperatures), chemicals (puissance negative de H and dissolved oxygen) and biological aspects. Especially with checking shell thickness index and gills anatomy structures of Anodonta woodiana Lea. The survey research sample has taken in three check points station at Serang River. Physic and chemicals factor measured at location in Serang River. The heavy metal analysis with FAAS method and microanatomy preparation has taken in laboratory. Data collected from chromium research analyzed with ANAVA and continued to DMRT if different data found using 5 % significant value. The Pearson Correlation statistics method using to find relation between environmental factors and chromium accumulation value. The research on Serang River found that the river water quality still adequate to used as third class water fuction which regulated in Peraturan Pemerintah Republik Indonesia No 82/2001. The research found water quality parameter value on temperature 29,7° C, pH 7,39 and DO 4,91 ppm (average value). Meanwhile, chromium heavy metal analysis founded that chromium accumulation average valued on Serang River higher than water quality standard on PPRI 82/2001 with 0,05 ppm. Negative correlation between Cr accumulation on water and temperature 20,2%, DO 93,3%. pH 83,3% has positive correlation. The study in Anodonta woodiana Lea shell thickness showed value 2-3 mm as effect of deficiency. Keywords : chromium metal, water quality, Anodonta woodiana Lea
