Translating a Non-Fiction Book Entitled Rasa Tanah Air at Pruf Ritz Communication Hub, Surabaya

This internship report is written based on all of the writer's experiences during the internship program for three months, starting from January 22, 2024, until April 19, 2024, at Pruf Ritz Communication Hub, Surabaya. This report consists of detailed information about the internship program, including background, objectives, internship mechanism, company's profile, main activities, additional activities, problems faced, solutions, and recommendations. The purpose of writing this report is to report all activities during the internship along with any difficulties in translating during the internship. This report focuses on translating a book published by Gramedia Pustaka Utama (GPU) entitled Rasa Tanah Air. In this report, the writer discusses the difficulties that the writer faced while translating the book. The number of unfamiliar terms that the writer found while translating the book became a challenge that the writer had to face. To overcome these challenges, the writer did the three stages of the translation process by Nida and Taber (1982), that was analyzing, transferring, and restructuring. Then, to overcome micro difficulties, such as some specific terms, the author uses the translation techniques by Molina and Albir (2002, pp. 499-500), such as adaptation, calque, borrowing, description, and particularization. Besides, the writer also conducted research on Google Search to find parallel text of the terms. In this report, the author also talks about his experience in designing and executing the webinar project which is an annual project of Pruf Ritz Communication Hub. The writer also shares a brief explanation of the various difficulties encountered while executing the webinar project and its solutions. The point is that this internship program provides a lot of learning and real experience that will be done and felt in the translation industry along with its various forms of difficulties.
