The objective of the English subject in the Merdeka curriculum requires students to be able to communicate with others, so it is crucial to develop students' communicativeness through the learning process. A textbook can support the process of developing students' communicativeness as it provides materials and tasks. This research was intended to examine the types, communicativeness, and implementation of communicativeness of speaking tasks in the "English for Nusantara" textbook for the 7th grade of junior high school. In analyzing the textbook, this qualitative study utilized the content analysis method. The results revealed that the textbook offered a variety of speaking tasks, with drilling and structured role-play tasks as the most frequently appearing. Besides, the textbook has fulfilled all the categories of the communicative continuum. Besides, the textbook aligned with the Merdeka curriculum objectives. English teachers can use the speaking tasks of the textbook in the teaching and learning process to enhance students' communicativeness. Nevertheless, some tasks need to be modified to be more communicative and lead to authentic communication so the students are able to develop their skills effectively.
