This final report describes the activities during my internship program conducted at Jogja
Translator, began on January 29th and ended on March 29th
, 2023. This report aims to describe
and explain my activities at Jogja Translator, especially the process of translating any document
given by the client of Jogja Translator. The documents I translated were mainly legal, and I
found it slightly challenging to translate the texts because the translations had to be done by
legal regulations. To overcome this obstacle, I used various tools and resources, including
online dictionaries, Google Documents, Smartcat, and a glossary given by Jogja Translator to
help me translating the legal documents. These tools proved invaluable in ensuring accurate
translations and maintaining the actual purposes of legal documents. In the internship, I got
two main activities, namely “Urgensi Pengaturan Larangan Penyalahgunaan Penguasaan
Data Pribadi Oleh E-Commerce Dalam Hukum Persaingan Usaha di Indonesia” dan
"ORYGEN Grand Challenge Agreement". I discussed the translation process for some words
that I translated, such as Gojek dan Tokopedia, Perdagangan Melalui Sistem Elektronik
(PMSE), and Komisi Pengawas Persaingan Usaha (KPPU). In translating the the legal terms,
I used literal translation techniques because this translation technique is suitable for translating
legal texts. I closed this report by providing a conclusion and recommendation. Finally, this
report shows the importance of internships in showing how the industry works and a place to
enhance my practical skills and knowledge in the translation industry. This report highlights
the relevance of my studies in the English Diploma Program.
