A Diamond in the Ashes is a work which surrounds several issues such as beauty standard, beauty privilege, trauma, bullying, and media bias. These small subjects are mainly focused on how an idol faces the strict beauty standards, adding the fact that the main character also has a past trauma which also circulates in the same theme of beauty. The main character, Ruby, deals with past and current problems which correlate to each other. Her struggle in overcoming her insecurities results in a complete confidence which she gradually gains from her own shifting belief and support from her mother, fellow trainees, and a special person.
