Document Regarding Education on Consumer Data Protection and
Confidentiality at Translation Transfer. English Diploma Program,
Vocational School of Universitas Sebelas Maret.
This internship report was
written based on the internship experience conducted at Translation Transfer
for two months starting from the 29th of January to March 28th, 2024. The
purposes of this report are (1) to implement knowledges and practices of
translation, (2) to improve skills and insights about the translation industry,
(3) to prepare myself before stepping into the professional world, and (4) to
adapt and socialize in translator working environment both in the office and in
the industry. This internship report focuses on translating a legal document
issued by Otoritas Jasa Keuangan
(OJK)’s titled Education on Consumer Data
Protection and Confidentiality. This particular text includes a lot of
specific legal terms that proved to be confusing and/or misleading to regular
translators. There are multiple ways for me to overcome these challenges, such
as conducting small research through the Internet, exploring legal terms in
advanced dictionaries such as Oxford and Merriam-Webster dictionaries, asking
for a piece of advice from a professional, and last but not least brainstorming
with the other fellow interns. Using the Internet and online dictionaries
proved to be very helpful in understanding specific legal terms inside the
text. However, the translation process took longer than expected because of how
difficult it was to understand these particular terms used in the text, but in
the end, I managed to submit the assignment before the designated deadline. I
gained valuable knowledge and experience from this internship program, which
will proved to be very useful for me in the future.
