This internship report describes the activities carried out during
my internship program
at Pruf Ritz Communications Hub. Pruf Ritz Communications Hub is a professional translation agency specializing in
translation and localization. Located in Surabaya, East Java, the company has been established for almost 14 years since January 2010. Pruf Ritz provides
a wide range of services, including translation, adaptation and legalization, scriptwriting, editing and proofreading, voiceover, interpreting, public speaking, language consultancy, and talent
outsourcing. The company helps clients convey their ideas by emphasizing logic, fluency, appropriateness, and precision. I worked as an intern
for three months,
from January 22 to April 19, 2024. My main task was translating a legal document about the Deed of Establishment
of PT Bermain Bersama Indonesia from Indonesian to English. This document consists
of 1,384 words across 7 pages. I translated this material using three translation
steps: analyzing, transferring, and restructuring, according to Nida and Taber's (1982) translation theory. One of
the primary challenges I faced during the translation process was the complexity of legal terminology and the need for
precision in conveying the meaning of legal clauses. Legal text often contains
terms and phrases that do not have
direct equivalents in English, making it difficult to ensure accuracy without altering the intended meaning. To address this challenge, I utilized legal
dictionaries and consulted with senior linguists at Pruf Ritz
Communication Hub who have extensive experience in legal translation.
