ABSTRACT
Soil macrofauna play important role on recovery physic, chemist, and soil
biology. Farm intensification decrease soil biodiversity. The aim of this research
was to observe the diversity index of soil macrofauna on red chili farmland and
correlation between macrofauna diversity index and red chili growth.
The experiment was conducted at the farmland in Nggatak, Ngawen,
Klaten, Central Java, started from November 2006 until January 2007. The
experiment was arranged in Randomized Complete Block Design consisted with
four fertilizer treatment, i. e. no fertilizing as control (C), fertilizing by poultry
dropping (O), basic fertilizer (poultry dropping + ZA : SP-36 : KCL = 2 : 1: 1)
and NPK (N), basic fertilizer without ZA and organic liquid fertilizer from cow
urine (NU) with three replication. Parameters that observed were diversity index
of soil macrofauna; plant height; canopy diameter; temperature pH, and soil wet;
light intensity; N, P, K contens in soil; kation exchange capacity; and soil organic
matter.
The result of experiment shows that fertilizer treatment gives effect of
macrofauna in soil diversity index although it’s not significant. The highest
macrofauna diversity index on poultry dropping fertilizer treatment (0,67372) and
the lowest on basic fertilizer without ZA and organic liquid fertilizer from cow
urine treatment (0,32832). There was no correlation between soil macrofauna
diversity index and red chili growth.
Keywords : soil macrofauna, fertilizer, biodiversity, chili, urine.
