The research focused on the analysis of simile and metaphor expressions in six selected songs of album “GUTS” by Olivia Rodrigo (all-american bitch, bad idea right?, vampire, lacy, ballad of homeschooled girl, and making the bed).

There are three types of simile found and the following is the order of the highest frequency; concrete-to-abstract, animal, and synaesthetic. There are four types of metaphor found and the following is the order of the highest frequency; concrete-to-abstract metaphor, anthropomorphic metaphor, animal metaphor, and synaesthetic metaphor.

The analysis on translation strategies shows that there are three strategies proposed by Larson applied in translating simile and the order from the frequency; translating without keeping the simile imagery, translating simile into simile, and substituting simile from receptor language. Besides, there also other translation strategies non-Larson framework implied and the order from frequency; translating simile into non simile with different meaning, translating simile into unnatural simile, translating simile into non simile with less similar meaning, translating simile into unnatural metaphor, omission the entire simile. On the other hand, translation strategies implemented on metaphor using Larson’s framework based on the frequency; translating without keeping the metaphorical imagery, substituting metaphor from receptor language, translating metaphor into metaphor. There are also the data translated with strategy proposed by the translator and the order; translating metaphor into unnatural metaphor, translating metaphor into unnatural simile, translating metaphor into non metaphor with less similar meaning, translating metaphor into non metaphor with different meaning.

Interestingly, the analysis of simile and metaphor translation accuracy shows the same order frequency quality; less accurate, accurate, and inaccurate. The high number of less accurate translation is caused by the choice of translation strategies that translates similes and metaphors without keeping its imagery, this causes the translation to lose its expressiveness.

The analysis on acceptability of simile shows the order frequency; acceptable, less acceptable, and unacceptable. Besides, the analysis on acceptability of metaphor shows that the order frequency; acceptable and less acceptable. The high quality of acceptability is due to the naturalness translation and minor grammatical mistakes.

Translating by keeping the imagery of simile and metaphor gives the highest impact to the translation quality in the terms of accuracy and acceptability. This is proven by the score given by the raters and supported by previous studies.
