An Analysis of Reading Comprehension Question Types in "Bahasa Inggris Tingkat Lanjut" for Grade XI Textbook Using Marzano's Taxonomy

This thesis presents an analysis of reading-comprehension question types based on Marzano’s Taxonomy in the English textbook "Bahasa Inggris Tingkat Lanjut" for Grade XI. The study aims to identify the cognitive levels of reading comprehension questions and their role in developing students' reading skills. This research utilizing a content analysis methodology and the data were collected by using document analysis technique. The research categorizes questions into Lower-Order Thinking Skills (LOTS) and Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) according to Marzano’s framework. The findings reveal a balanced distribution of 19 LOTS questions and 24 HOTS questions, indicating that the textbook effectively supports both foundational knowledge and advanced cognitive processes. The analysis highlights the importance of reading comprehension questions in enhancing students' abilities to identify main ideas, interpret word meanings, recall explicit information, and make inferences. The study concludes that the textbook serves as a valuable resource for fostering critical thinking and comprehensive reading skills among students.
