ABSTRAK Manusia adalah makhluk yang maha misterius, seperti halnya dengan alam semesta yang masih menyimpan begitu banyak misteri. Salah satu sekian banyak misteri pada manusia yang masih terus dikaji adalah fenomena jiwa manusia. Fenomena yang kadang terjadi melebihi batas kemampuan normal manusia pada umumnya, yang dikenal dengan gejala paranormal. Mistikus Timur hidup dalam meditasi, mengamati alam mikro dan makro melalui apa yang ada pada tubuhnya, sementara ilmuwan Barat mengamati alam semesta dengan apa yang ada di luar tubuhnya. Dunia Timur menjawab pertanyaan tentang ‘bagaimana’, sementara dunia Barat berkutat tentang ‘apa’. Parapsikologi adalah pertemuan antara dua buah sisi, dua sisi yang sebenarnya adalah satu adanya. Sebuah ilmu pengetahuan multidisipliner yang mengkaji hal-hal metafisis yang terjadi pada manusia, dengan kaca mata ilmiah. ABSTRACT Human beings are the most mysterious creatures as the nature, which still keeps myriad mysteries. One of the mysteries of the human beings, which is never-endingly studied is the human beings’ soul phenomenon. The occasionally persisting phenomenon exceeds the normal capacity limit of human beings by and large, which is best known as the paranormal symptom. The eastern mystic is flourishing in the meditation, observing the micro-cosmos and macro-cosmos trough the matters found in the human body, whereas western scientists observe the nature through the matters found out of the human body. The eastern world strives to answer the question of “how” whereas the western one strives to answer the question of “what”. Parapsychology is the encounter between two sides, the sides which are actually one. A multidisciplinary science studies metaphysical matters that persist in the human beings viewed from scientific approach.
