Perilaku mahasiswa dalam keluarga single parent

ABSTRACT
This research aims: (1) to find out the cause of single parent family occurrence (2) to find out the students behavior in the single parent family and (3) to find out the students’ response to the single parent family.
The research used a descriptive qualitative method. The data source in this study includes: (1) informant of Research, that is, the students of Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Sebelas Maret University from Single Parent’s Family. Techniques of collecting data employed in this research were in-depth interviewing and direct observation. Techniques of Validating data used was data (source) trianggulation and was an interactive model of analysis encompassing three component: Reduction data, display data and conclusion drawing as well as verification.
Considering the result of research, it can be concluded that (1) the single parent family can be caused by death and divorce. The demise of spouse, either father or mother, but the most demise is encountered by father or husband. The divorce is mainly caused by the spouse frequently ignoring his/her duty, that is, not fulfill the family need and the presence of physical torturing. (2) there are two types of students’ behavior coming from the single parent family. Firstly, for the students who are successful in adjusting themselves will have mature, independent, responsible and self confidence behavior. Secondly, the students who are not successful in adjusting themselves will depend on other, introverted, and difficult to have intercourse. The student behavior can be seen from their daily behavior, both at home or at boarding house, at the campus as well as the student learning behavior. They live without mother of father; it psychologically can affect their behavior. In addition, the students’ own personality, parent nurturance pattern and environment also affect the behavior establishment. (3) The students’ perception on the single parent family is varied, but most of them argue that the students coming from the single parent family generally behave more maturely, as well as more responsibly and independently.
