Abstract A preliminary assessment of the Midwives who have not taken any training in basic delivery care shows that 1) their attitudes towards the practice of standard basic delivery care is low (56%) and fairly well 44%; 2) their motivation in giving basic delivery care is (45%) unfavorable and 55% fairly well; and 3) 78 % of the midwives observed is found to be performing poorly in carrying out basic delivery care steps. This research is, therefore, aimed at analyzing the differences in motivation, attitudes and skills between midwives who have taken and not taken basic delivery care training.
