ABSTRACT
This is an experimental study aiming at: 1) investigating whether there is any significant difference in students’ sepak takraw basic skill techniques between students who are taught by the part practice method and those who are taught by whole practice method, 2) finding out whether there is any significant difference in sepak takraw basic skill techniques between high motor educability learners and low motor educability learners, 3) investigating whether there is any interaction between the implementation of teaching methods and students’ level of motor educability on students’ basic skill techniques of sepak takraw.
To achieve these objectives , factorial 2x2 design was implemented in this study. 196 semester III male students of Physical Education, Health and Recreation, Sport Faculty and Health, Ganesha University of Education, Singaraja became the population of this study. By implementing proportional random sampling technique, 40 male students then was selected as the sample of the study. Three variables existed in this study, they were independent variable, attribute variable, and dependent variable. Teaching methods were treated as independent variable, students’ level of motor educability was treated as attributive variable and students’ basic skill techniques of sepak takraw were treated as dependent variable. Two kinds of instruments were used in this study, namely test of students’ level motor educability called IOWA Brace Test and test of basic skill techniques of sepak takraw. The obtained data then were analyzed using two way anova with significant level is 0,05.
Having analyzing the data, it was found that 1) there is a significant difference in students’ sepak takraw basic skill techniques between the students who were taught by part practice method and those who were taught by whole practice method (Fh = 5,982 > Ft(1;36;0,05) = 4,11) in which students taught by whole practice method performed better than those students taught by part practice method. 2) there is a significant difference in sepak takraw basic skill techniques between high motor educability learners and low motor educability learners (Fh = 83,306 > Ft(1;36;0,05) = 4,11) in which high motor educability learners performed better than low motor educability learners, 3) there is an interaction between the implementation of teaching method and students’ level of motor educability on students’ basic skill techniques of sepak takraw (Fh = 15,036 > Ft(1;36;0,05) = 4,11), in which high motor educability students will achieve better performance if they are taught by the whole practice method, whereas low motor educability students will achieve a greater performance if they are taught by part practice method.
Key words: whole practice method , part practice method, motor educability, and basic skill techniques of sepak takraw.
