ABSTRACT Cassava skin is cassava’s waste which contains high carbohydrate so that it can be one of the alternative raw materials of bioethanol making. The rate of the outer cassava skin waste is 0.5 – 2 % out of the total weight of a fresh cassava skin the inner one is 8 – 15 %. Bioethanol is alcohol which is obtained from a biomass fermentation process that is aided by a micro-organism. Hydrolysis is a process between a reactor and water to make a compound scattered. Fermentation is the process of the chemical changes of an organic substrate which are able to take place because of biochemistry catalyst action, from an enzyme that is produced by certain microbes. Distillation is a process which involves an evaporation process that is continued by a condensation process, the distillation is intended to separate the mixture of two or more liquids to their own fractions based on boiling point difference. The process of bioethanol making includes some stages. Such as the making of cassava skin flour, the analysis of the amount of starch, water and fiber or cellulose of cassava skin flour, the hydrolysis process of cassava skin flour, the analysis of glucose rate, fermentation process, and distillation process. The making of bioethanol out of cassava skin is initiated by an acid hydrolysis process. Hydrolysis process is aimed to change polysaccharide (starch) into monosaccharide (glucose). The acid hydrolysis process uses chloride acid (HCl) 0.1 N and 75 gram flour in 750 ml acid solution at temperature of 103oC for, an hour. The experiment result of cassava skin flour hydrolysis produces 15.05 % glucose solution. In fermentation process, the glucose will be scattered to be, ethanol by 8 gram saccaromyces cerevisiae yeast and 5 gram urea for 4 days. The distillation on process, which is to separate the ethanol, is conducted for an hour or until there’s no more drop at temperature of 78 – 80oC. Analysis result shows that 9.27 % ethanol is produced from the distillation process. From 60 gram cassava skin flour, it’s gained 9.27 % ethanol which weight’s, 12 ml or the ratio is 22.15 % out of the weight of cassava of skin flour.
